Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to receive shipping boxes from Gun Recycle?
5 – 10 Days depending on your location.
Do you have your own recycling plant?
No. We use a large recycling plant to process our metal scrap. Once firearms are acquired, slated for destruction and the proper paperwork is complete, we cut the firearm into pieces and have it crushed in a large metal shredder. Then it is recycled
Do you recycle all firearms you collect?
That depends on the owners wishes. Owners who use our service can choose to have them relinquished, destroyed or recycled.

Recycling a firearm means that we strip the frame of any useful parts so they can be sold to gunsmiths to repair other firearms. Then we destroy the frame which is the part regulated by the ATF.

Destroying the firearm is just as it sounds We torch cut the firearms into pieces small enough to fit into our metal shredder. Then we shred it. There is a small charge for this service.

Relinquished means we transfer ownership away from owner then decide what to do on a case by case basis. Some of these firearms will be destroyed some will be stripped of usable parts and sold to gunsmiths others will be sold or lent to firearms safety courses and firearm instructors.

Antique arms of historical value will be preserved to be loaned or sold to museums. They may or may not be modified to prevent operation.
How does Gun Recycle pay for this service?
We really make no profit from this service. Employees, utilities and equipment costs are paid for proceeds selling salvaged parts from recycled or relinquished firearms. People who choose to have their firearms destroyed will have to pay for shipping and handling.
Is this a free service?
We offer this service free of charge to people who wish to recycle or relinquish their firearms. We charge a reasonable fee for those who wish to have their firearms destroyed to cover shipping and handling.
